Actor, producer, crusader, and columnist Raveena Tandon is always ahead of her times. She was the first one to do away with the stigma of a single mother. She started the trend of single mothers at the age of 21 by adopting two girls, Pooja aged 11 and Chhaya aged 8 respectively.
Raveena is a multitalented and multifaceted individual who lives life to the fullest. She has been actively involved with UNICEF on the issue of maternal, neonatal healthcare and well-being. She is also the Brand Ambassador of the Spina Bifida Association and White Ribbon Alliance to raise awareness about Safe Motherhood. Leading by example, she gave shelter to 31 girls in her own bungalow for a year after they were evicted by the landlord and later, she single-handedly built an orphanage for them in Vasai.
She is the Brand Ambassador for Organ Donation at Nanavati Hospital, Mumbai and actively involved with DAIRRC anti-drug organization. Furthermore, she sensitizes people on cruelty towards animals as the Brand Ambassador of PETA and IDA. A woman of substance, Raveena has never relented in supporting and ardently working for social welfare both in real and reel life.
Raveena won a National Award for the Best actor for the movie Daman based on women empowerment. She is a recipient of Awadh Samman Puriskar in 2002 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award 2016. She has also received an award at the Festival of Globe for her work on the uplifting girl child.
Her next release is Onir’s ‘Shab’ and Ashtar Sayed’s ‘Matr’, which deals with violence against women. Donning several hats, she leads an exemplary life that inspires. She is the Alpha Woman!
